MUDITA-Feeling joy for others!
In the English dictionary, there’s a word for feeling
people's pain and sorrow, but not for feeling others' joy. I adore the Pali
word "MUDITA" and believe it is a strong indicator of
self-satisfaction. It is important to remember that mudita is a pure form of
pleasure, and it can be easily gained by another's accomplishments without any
form of selfishness or self-interest involved.
It is taught in Buddhism as a way of having infinite
joy that can be enjoyed at without any special access. Though this kind of joy
is most difficult to achieve, it can greatly enhance the life of one who
achieves it.
Lastly, listed below are the three powerful mantras
that will help you become a good person in your life:
OM TAT SAT: It means "absolute truth is
eternal". This mantra appears in Bhagavad Gita and recited especially at
the beginning of an important work.
~OM NAMO BHAGAVATE VASUDEVAYA: It says, "I
offer praise to all the pervading divinity present within the heart, who is the
embodiment of beauty, intelligence, strength, wealth, fame, and
detachment." And recited especially when seeking insight and guidance.
~LOK SAMASTAH SUKHINO BHAVANTU: It says,
"May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words,
and actions of their own lives be attributed in some way to that happiness and
to that freedom for all." It is a beautiful reminder to look beyond
ourselves and remember our place in the universe.
