An Effort to Make the Education System of My Dreams!
Education is the process of learning and acquiring skills that add up to our knowledge, wisdom and values. It not only plays a pivotal role in the growth of a child, but also has an impact on the working of a society and the development of a nation.
The kind of citizen a child becomes
tomorrow largely depends
on the kind of education he/she receives
today. This not only determines whether the child is a self-reliant citizen,
but also determines how he/she can contribute towards
the evolution of the nation.
Education is fundamental for the development of a nation. So for our nation to develop, it must educate its citizens.
Our country has taken one of the most
favourable initiatives towards improving the condition of education
here. The Right to Education Act under Article 21 (A) of the Indian
Constitution makes right to
elementary education a fundamental right. To achieve this should be our first
and foremost
goal. This is for children aged between 6-14 years. And we know that
this will not suffice to meet the demand
of emerging jobs in the market, industry
and economy.
So once we attain this objective, our next step should be to improve
the quality of the education and develop the higher education
institutions and make them available
to all.
We know that students mostly mug up whatever is taught in order to score the required marks. Why? Because their potential is judged on the basis of only such criteria and nothing more. The importance of theoretical knowledge is highlighted and thrust upon them while the practical knowledge is ignored. They are not given a chance to see what interests them. In this way, they do not acquire any skill and don’t get to learn anything which stays forever.
It’s high time students, teachers and parents change this attitude. Children should be taught practically as well as theoretically. It’s our duty to focus not only on the marks, but also on the creative and analytical skills and the overall continuous comprehensive evaluation to monitor them. This will help them gain skills and have better awareness of their surroundings. Schools will not only offer knowledge but also impart skills. And to keep up with the market, technology and economy of the coming times, the curriculum should be made more dynamic and updated on a regular basis.
There are fewer higher education institutions engaged in research and development in our country. We need to increase their numbers by allocating funds through the budget, because this will require initial support from the government before becoming self-sustainable by their research work and patents of their invention.
If we want to become a developed nation we must strive to do this. It will be a rigorous struggle, but if we achieve it, it’s ultimately our nation that will thrive. I hope the NEP 2021 will contribute to achieve this!
